Costume Con 34 Fashion Folio Contest: Best Embroidery

The Fashion Folio at Costume Con is a unique contest where the designers are being judged just as much as the costumers. Months before the convention designers submit drawings of original costumes and characters which are published in a ‘Future Fashion Folio’ costumers (and the designers) can then reserve and create a design from the Folio.

The Oceanid costume was designed for an oceanic fae who has gone travelling. Design elements incorporate the look of flowing water with seaweed and sea creatures embroidered on the pants and layered in tulle on the back to create a fishtank effect. The cowl helps keep the sun off her, she carries an umbrella with a rain cloud inside just in case it gets too dry.

This is another fun costume and comfortable enough for hall wear but (un?)fortunately I’ve now lost enough weight that I’m too small and had to retire it!
