Luke (He’s a Little Short for a Storm Trooper)

Obviously this isn’t me, but I did make the costume! My son was Star Wars obsessed and he was the perfect size for this costume. This set of armor was cannibalized from the 48″ tall storm trooper toy. I spent several days with a dremel opening up the toy and knocking out all the plastic support structures and electronics. The ankles of the shin armor proved too skinny for him to actually walk in so he got regular white gogo boots, and the helmet of the toy was far too small to turn into a working helmet without severe modification. Once the insides were cleaned up I lined the breast plate with foam and attached strips of velcro to the interiors to help hold the front and back pieces together. The codpiece and buttplate are worn with elastic suspenders.

He absolutely killed it on Halloween, and he would have crushed the competition at any convention like Grand Moff Tarkin crushed Alderaan. However, we opted to send the kids to my inlaws instead of dragging them around any conventions that year.
