Costume Con 27 Presentation Award Master Class: Best Concept
My Eowyn dress was part of an extremely large group masquerade entry. We had seventeen costumers on stage and were our own little show within a show. ‘Costume Con 1889’ played on all of the stereotypical costumes one expects to see in a sci-fi/fantasy masquerade, including five different snow queens in our group.
This was the largest costume I had done to date and though I borrowed the corset I wore for it, I made everything else from the chemise and bloomers to the bustle, petticoat, skirt, boned bodice, and extremely large butterfly train. Instead of the single handed sword that Eowyn carries in the movie, I had my first experience with propmaking to put together a nerf-altered rifle. When hunting something like the Witch King of Angmar you clearly need to bring a big game rifle to the party.
