The “Momness” has yet to be added to this costume but I got the meat of the costume done in time for the esteemed Sam Apple Cummins’ Star Wars photoshoot just before Halloween (2017)
This costume is being competed in the Single Pattern Contest at Costume Con 36 next year in San Diego. The McCall’s Sentinel cosplay pattern is the basis for it though I drafted new sleeves- the original ones in the pattern are extremely foofy gathered, baggy things and I wanted something more reminiscent of Kylo Ren’s pleated sleeves. I’m quite happy with how they turned out. It was my first time drafting sleeves from scratch and this Threads Magazine tutorial was spot on! I have a really good range of motion in these sleeves- enough to swing a lightsaber!- and the pleating turned out nicely.

Reese’s decided to get involved at this point. She’s rarely a sewing cat but apparently the purple fabric was nice enough to bother with.
She obviously wanted a belly rub…

Sewing on the snaps resulted in Reese’s getting involved again.
