Cosplaying with Kids

Being a parent and a cosplayer can be hard to juggle. How do you find time to get any sewing and crafting done with toddlers around? How soon is too soon to bring kids to a convention and involve them in cosplay? Join us as we discuss the ins and outs, tricks, and tips of being a parent with a cosplay addiction- or the parent of a child who wants to get into the hobby.

This panel is typically held as a discussion panel as every parenting situation is different, and the more voices contributing to the topic gives it a more well rounded perspective. I am a parent of two small children- currently five and two- who have at different points been cosplay props, completely disinterested in wearing anything at all, and making long lists of costumes that I should make for them. They’ve been left behind with inlaws when I’ve gone to conventions and been brought along. Both approaches have their ups and downs and it all depends on the kids and the cosplayer’s personal situation.
